little children
I had a thought today at church, that I didn't have time to share during testimony meeting but I didn't want to forget. The thought came from a primary lesson that I gave a few weeks ago. The lesson started by talking to the children about things that when they were a baby they couldn't do for them selves. The kids shared answers like feed me, put on my clothes and then the obligatory bum joke..."wipe my bum".... After they thought of examples we asked the question "Jesus also has done something for us that we can't do for ourselves. Do you know what that is?" Pretty sure Yul answered this one spot on by saying "he died for us". He was so right and we then talked about how Jesus suffered and died and was resurrected for us because it was something we couldn't do alone. As I took the sacrament today I thought about how this is a way we are like little children, as we accept Christ and his atonement in our life and use it to become one, repent and live again with him we are allowing him to help us with something we couldn't do on our own. I don't know if it's some hue inspired thought but I loved thinking that as I use the atonement and apply it to my life I am also being more like a child and coming unto him.

i don't know what that is ^
it is so weird to think i am graduating. that my undergraduate degree is coming to a close. i have thought so much about what my degree means to me. and since i don't have a job yet... it doesn't mean i get a cool job in the field of my choice, maybe one day. but it for now symbolizes that i can do hard things. that i pushed myself beyond what i thought was possible. i did it.
anyway. back to studying for my last finals.

cute things my husband does
going through some old drafts. found this one and never posted it… but i am now. and adding to it.
slow dances with me when im cooking
playing with my hair
keeping me captive in bed so we can spoon
makes my lunch in the morning
makes our bed and folds the laundry
turns the lights out and then hides...and scares me
plays with my wedding ring...lines them up just right
gives me tons of little kisses on my forehead
always tells me i am the best part of his day
always lets me eat the last treat
watches my favorite shows first…aka bones and the voice
always gets my door
makes sure my phone is fully charged everyday
kills and checks for spiders
loves cooking german pancakes and chocolate milkshakes for me on request
these are a few little things that i just love about sam. how is he the coolest eva?

something lame
i know i am supposed to be grateful but this is something i just gotta shpill about.
i've been studying for 4 years, overall heath, nutrition, exercise, wellness. yet if i want to "officially counsel" someone on nutritional info, I have to take this stupid "certified nutrition professional" exam or whatever...? and i have to pay 800 bucks to take it.
basically i love nutrition and health, i think that caring for our bodies is so important and i love what i have studied. i'm just peeved that to officially share it...my 4 year bachelors doesn't seem sufficient enough for the real world. whatevs.
Here is my grateful post to redeem myself. I am so grateful for nutrition and the amazing properties food have to make our bodies function properly. We literally cannot live without it. I am grateful I have a knowledge of concepts that can change peoples lives for the healthier.
Nutritional tip: I know mayo makes sandwiches taste sooo good, but maybe next time substitute it for some avocado, it's a better fat. Fats are good and we need them but... it's all about what type of fat it is. So put some avocado on your sandwich today. It tastes super yummy and you'll feel healthier seeing some green
I also really love pictures. Especially this one.

last first day of school
today was my last first day of school. wow.
i feel so old, yet...like i still have soooooo much ahead and so much to do.
i got a little overwhelmed as i thought of all the classes i should/could be taking this semester. i don't want to miss out on anything.
then i got into thinking about where i was going to go and what i was going to do after college... and thats when i really got overwhelmed. suddenly i found myself looking up master's programs...the price of the program... etc. then how do i decide if that is the right thing.
there are so many good choices, which one is best.
just as i hit a peak of stress and started to break down with sam by my side. he said alyson you will be successful in whatever, but you will always be successful in the gospel and that's what matters. you don't need to make decisions yet, just live the gospel. he reminded me that when he went to ask my dad for his blessing as we were getting married, all my dad asked is if he had a testimony of the gospel. cause if you have the gospel and make that/christ the center of your marriage all will fall in line around it.
i felt pretty worldly that i was so caught up in thinking i need some diploma to decide my worth. there is a lot more in life. not saying that i won't continue to learn after i graduate but i will learn more of christ and this gospel first.
i am so grateful i have a husband who is there to listen but is also in tune to tell me just what i need.
fill your life with christ and the rest will fall in line.
