It's Christmas Eve.

Just a few thoughts this Christmas Eve.
This song by Taylor Swift is a new favorite.
I remember growing up, Christmas Eve lasted forever, just waiting around till you could go and pretend to fall asleep. Just sitting there waiting and wondering what excitement Christmas Day would bring.
I love shopping for other people, and buying them things I know they will love.
Christmas has become so less about what I get, I am so much more worried about what I am getting for others.
Christmas has become so much more about Christ with age. I love my Savior, and I know that his birth started the precious mortal mission, that has changed my life forever. This next year I want to give Christ my all in everything.
I love my family, and I am grateful my nephew Henry James is home for Christmas.

school school school

school is the best and the worst.
school makes your life better; but makes it suck.
school makes you feel smart. school makes you feel not smart (aka stupid)
school makes you happy, school makes you sad.
school is good though, i like it, it's hard but rewarding, and it helps me understand so much more about life.
school is cool

correct me please?

Sometimes... sometimes. I am grateful that i am confused. It makes me that much more grateful for when I understand something. When something finally clicks... then the confusion is worth it.
Sometimes... I need to be corrected. okay actually... I need to almost always. I am far from perfect, but I am grateful for a God who wants me to be perfect. He isn't content to see me try for anything less, so while I am not always mindful of his corrections he gives them to me. I am grateful he cares. I am grateful that so many times I learn how to do things the right way, then maybe the next time. I wont need as big of correction.
Sometimes... I need to go to sleep. Sometimes...

Thankful for friends

I'm so grateful for friends this week, and always.
Basically I am so grateful for a friend and roommate that will let me sleep with her and drive me places. And one who is always there with strength and compassion.
Eh?
I'm also grateful for married friends. And friends that get married on the perfect day to distract me.
Coco
I'm so so grateful for an honorable friend who is dedicated and willing to serve. That friend is the perfect example of doing the Lords will. I hope that the next two years keep our relationship and friendship so strong.

Its Been a while

I have been a slacker. Literally. I got out of College April 22 and a month later I have little to show for it. I have had a hard time thinking of what I am grateful for. But I need to say some of the things I love or I may just go crazy.
I am so grateful for Sundays and the oppurtunity I have to take the Sacrament. It really helps me just feel the spirit and remember why I am here on earth.
I am grateful for my bed. Literally it is the most comfortable thing in the world-- which also makes it incredibly hard to leave somedays.
I am grateful for my phone. It has been my entertainment and connection to the outside world lately. I owe it many thank-you's.
I am grateful for morning scripture studies that teach me where I am lacking and what to improve on in my life.
I am grateful for friends who keep in touch.
I am grateful for a family that is always around.
I am grateful to be alive.
Life isn't easy but I still have a world full of things to be grateful for.

I love Kollige

Asher Roth... ahah yes. He has a song, I love kollige, and why I may not like it for the same reasons he mentions in his song, I agree. I love kollige or college( for the edukated) My freshman experience has been perfect. It has been hard but it has been unbelievably happy as well.
I started our with getting blessed with the most incredible roomate-- eliza kaye. I love her, and my experience at BYU would be nothing without her. We have laughed, stayed up way to late, and gone through so much together. I am grateful I was blessed with her. She is a good example of hard work. She reaches out and loves all around her. We have fun toghether, making meals, singing, shopping online, watching youtube videos. and getting through very stressful days together. I am thankful for her too cause she loves Madagascar 2 and graham canyon icecream. There is a picture of our past selves at the creamery above one of the booths. Ya we were meant to be. I love eliza, Room8s for lyphe! seriously... we are living together forever...despite what our future husbands may think... ;)

Next all though he may be upset for saying this... hahah Zachary Monroe White has made my kollige experience so  happy. Zach went to high school with eliza and that is all she talked about the first week of school. Zach and Jacob, Zach and Jacob. Finally we met, and honestly I was bored cause they were just talking about high school, so.. I left. hahah dumb I know. Well we ended up having medicinal plants together aka CHOMP, and that is where we got to know each other. Zach is extremely smart and pushed me to do my best in my classes, he was funny and made me laugh all the time, and he is easy to talk to. We just mesh... ahah we have done the best things at college this year..
just to name a few.
1. playing super smash brothers through the window outside his dorm after visiting hours
2. watching the Lord of the Rings series, and many other movies (so that I am no longer illiterate in movies)

3. Playing at the library till the music plays
4. long walks and talks

5. Jazz games
6. BYU basketball games, aka JIMMER
7. vocal point, and acapella jam, Humor U

8. devotionals
9. dinners, lunches, breakfasts
10. Running

I can't even mention everything that he has done for me that has made college the greatest, so I will stop before I am really in trouble. All the little things we have done have just meant the world and made me so happy. But I hope the list of things we do together just continues to grow. He is the greatest. He is leaving August 17th on his mission to Paraguay. Those people are lucky. Well he will probably beat me up for writing so much..but someone like him deserves a few words.
What else has made my experience freshman year? hmmm well alot actually. Here I go again with the lists
1. Professors: Gary Booth, Brent Strong, Hank Smith, Merril Christensen, These guys have taught me so much this year, and helped me realize what I love
2. Jimmer. I had to put him in, he seriously made every game worth watching, he can even play with the best black players.
3. Alena. My chemistry TA. She taught me how to ask for help, and was so good at giving it. I am so grateful for her and her help in chemistry.
4. My ward. The BYU 20th ward, taught me not to sit in the middle but to rise above. I am not just lost in the crowd, I am working to rise above and lead the crowd.
5. The gospel. Pretty much I would never have made it through the first day of college if I didn't have the gospel. I love the power of prayer and the scriptures that are so readily available to us in our lives. I love the opportunity I have at BYU to connect my studies to the gospel, and learn that they are forever connected.
If I think of something else, I will post it but I think this is it.. for now. I have just loved college in general period. It is the place to find your self, and get to where you want to be. I love college and everything and everyone that has made it the best ever.

Thankful for freedom

If someone woke you up every morning and told you how you needed to behave and feel, just like in Ella Enchanted, would you like it? Obviously not. But I think personally choosing to be your best self and choose to be happy is hard to-- but I am so grateful I can.
I can wake up, and be happy, smile, say hello to whoever, do what I want. I choose to let myself enjoy life and be happy. I am so grateful Heavenly Father blessed us with this. I know sometimes I get caught up, and do let worldly things influence my attitude, but that isn't when I am really happy.
I am really truly happy when I am choosing the right. Choosing to surround myself with the things I love, and the people I love gives me this happiness. Doing things that help me grow make me happy, and that includes going through hard times.
I am happy with life, and so in love with it. Geez, it's good.

tough love

Sometimes it's tough to love something. I like chemistry and I like learning about metabolism. However, recently learning about the two together has been tough. Even though the citric acid cycle can be drawn out beautifully as it is above, the crazy way it is required to be learned for tests is a lot harder. I spent hours focusing, drawing out, and memorizing all the biochemistry required in metabolism, and I won't know whether is paid off or not till Saturday. However, I love it. Metabolism and how these detailed processes in our bodies work is a testimony of a living God and creator. Our bodies are not a mistake but a priceless and precious gift. All though it is tough to love something that causes you stress, it is worth it. I love chemistry and I love metabolism. Understanding them has made this love grow, and surprisingly my love for other areas grow as well. Thank you chemistry, for sleepless nights that help me understand that I am built and made of priceless processes that keep me alive. Hopefully this isn't too much of a stretch... but I believe it.

love... an emotion.

Today in Psychology we learned all about our emotions. My professor asked the class, what is love... well what is it. It's something indescribable, because it's something you feel. So basically I think I need to change the name of this blog to things I feel about, and am thankful for. (It has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?)
Honestly though... I feel so strongly about a million things. Yes I love, which to me is acting upon what I feel. There are so many things that make me happy (another emotion.) But until I take an action towards it, I don't love it. Here are some examples.
Getting good grades in school used to make me happy. But now I can say I love school. I love learning because I have sought it out. I am trying not just to memorize but understand and apply... and love everything I learn. While that is hard in subjects like political science, there are ways to show interest (staying awake in class, taking notes outside a power point, etc.) that make me love it.
I like a lot of people. There are countless people who make me smile. But I don't really love them until I take the time to talk to them, play with them and serve them. I love people and need to do more to show this love to all those around me, because I wouldn't be anywhere without them.
I like playing sports, especially lacrosse. But I didn't love it until I put time in outside of practice. Then as that love grew so did my skills and enthusiasm for it.
I used to like church, the Gospel, etc. But after going my college, and having to put in the time for these things on my own. My love for the Gospel has developed. I love the growth that our Gospel encourages.  I love that there is a path of repentance and that we always can choose to be better than we are the next day. The gospel is so eternal, and any future in it side by side with Heavenly Father is bright.
Love is hard. I don't think you can completely love something or someone after one conversation, siting or experience. Love is almost, no it is, a habit. It takes time. And when it is a established and continued habit, it never breaks.

love at home

My home in West Jordan, where my family is, isn't a place I would ever trade anything for. I also have a home in  Provo where I am surrounded by so many people I love. I am so grateful for places to grow in, come home to and become a better person in. The gospel is a home for me as well. I have really come to learn that you will be happiest and grow the most in life when you aren't spending it wishing for something else. There are some things that make you so happy but then turn around and make you sad. The gospel isn't like that, its principles and teachings only bring happiness when followed correctly. I have begun to see more of an eternal perspective on things. and my mind is blown. I have an eternal home in the gospel, and it is happy to find homes here on earth that keep me focused on my eternal happiness. I love my life and the happiness that you can always find when you look for it.

Thankful for creativity

In my History of Creativity class, I have come to really appreciate my mind and the creative things that it can do. Minds our amazing, they connect so many things seamlessly and I am so blessed to have one that works. For the take home portion of our test we needed to write a sonnet in Shakespearean style as if we were the King of Spain wooing Queen Elizabeth of England. Here is mine.
Priceless Strength
A free spirit running alone paused,
Gazed across the sea at a treasure.
The treasure gleamed and caused
The spirit to be filled with pleasure.
Rubies, emeralds, gold, do not compare—
It was a beauty of elegance and strength.
A spirit so lowly and caught up in prayer
Wished to tend the treasure at any length.
Could a treasure without price be,
A missing strength, to a life of solace?
A dream of joy grew like a tree,
The spirit knew that treasure fills a palace.
But full palace rooms don’t compete
With priceless treasure that makes one complete.

in love with life

I am in love with life. I am so happy with it. I am on live with the people in my life who make me happy. Even though school is so hard, it is so happy to be learning. I want to always feel this way because I feel so grateful for everything. I have found that there are a million thing you can find to love when you aren't bogged down by one little detail.

Valentine boxes and characters

I just love remembering about the old days when we made Valentine boxes in elementary. They were so cool and creative. And I am so thankful we made them for FHE. Could it get better than bakugan, Madagascar and glitter on one box?

groundhog day

Today all though it didn't get above 20 degrees outside I am loving Mr. Groundhog. The news announced that he didn't see his shadow... Which I am grateful to say means... Spring is soon coming. So happy day and thank you for the comforting tradition of placing our hopes in rodents.

thankful for trials

Lately, I have heard countless lessons on how we need to be thankful for our trials, that we need to love the hard ones. My life is full of trials so I would just like to take this time to say thanks. I love that my life isn't easy, and I love that I have so many opportunities to grow. Thank you trials so much for making me struggle, I don't think I could love life so much with out you.

some spiritual loving

So today I took my first Book of Mormon test, and did a million times better than in my last Book of Mormon class. I am so grateful for the gospel and for teachers that make the tests easy!

beginning....where to start.

I wanted this blog to be something that if read inspires people and puts a smile on their face, and also one that increases my happiness.
I am so grateful for life. It is truly incredible, one of my very best friends reminds me each day that life is good, and it really is. I have an amazing family; a lot of people think that theirs is the best but mine is the best in the world. My parents are such a blessing to me, they support me in all aspects of my life and have really helped me become who I am today. Thank you.
Friends, wow I am so grateful for all of the people in my life who daily build me up and put a smile on my face. I love to laugh and my friends help me do so.
I am thankful that I can go to school at BYU. I have learned so much here and it is only continuing.
Kay I am going to try and keep my posts short so that people enjoy reading it... but just know that there are countless things in my life that I love and am thankful for. Hopefully this blog is sufficient in documenting at least a small portion of these things. So let's get started.
